I received these items at no cost to facilitate my review. All opinions remain my own.
My husband and I are two very different creatures. As my mother-in-law always reminds me, “opposites attract.” (My own mother would likely say: “You married your father.”) My husband is pragmatic about his shoes: one pair of dress shoes, one pair of work boots, one pair of snow boots and one pair of running shoes. My desire to own multiple pairs of shoes for the same purpose both baffles and frustrates him, and one of the ways I keep the marital peace is by keeping my shoe fanaticism under control. When his 8-year-old running shoes developed a hole in the sole, I knew it was the perfect excuse to get myself a new pair of sporty shoes, too.
My brother and his wife have been raving about their Skechers Memory Foam sneakers for a couple of years now, and they are both much hipper and also more active than me. I was psyched to collaborate with Skechers to review his and her pairs of memory-foam-equipped shoes. My primary desire was a pair of shoes that were easy to slip on and super comfy for day-to-day use. My husband was looking for a pair of light, supportive athletic shoes to wear for CrossFit and day-to-day use.
I chose the Stretch Fit Glider which features bungee laces for easy slip-on, Endur-Lite Response Cushioning midsole design, super lightweight and flexible shock absorbing midsole and a custom-feel, comfortable fit. When they first arrived in the mail, I wore them around the house for days as slippers.
My husband chose (okay, I confess, I chose them) the Skech-Air Infinity which features a gel-infused memory foam cushioned comfort insole, Skech-Air shock absorbing lightweight midsole and flexible traction outsole.
Considering that Calgary is under an inch or two of snow, we were lucky enough to spend Christmas visiting my parents in South Surrey. We went down to Crescent Beach with my parents and Cub on a sunny day shortly after Christmas to test out our new kicks.
How exciting that Papa Wolf has finally agreed to appear on my blog! He’s been wearing his Skech-Airs to CrossFit, and reports that they are incredibly light. I’ve seen how intense things get in CrossFit, and I can understand why the lighter your feet are the better when you’re jumping around with weights on your shoulders. As a wife that likes her husband to look spiffy, I love how cool his sneakers look, either with jeans or with his workout gear.
At the beach, we were clambering around stones and driftwood, on the hunt for crabs and other sea creatures.
While my day-to-day does not involve CrossFit or climbing or any kind of organized aerobic activity, it does involve trying to leave the house with a baby and a threenager. Since I am generally wearing Little Miss Cub, shoes I can slip on without having to bend down are a huge advantage. I can easily wiggle my feet into my Skechers, and they look adorable with yoga pants and leggings, which are basically the only kind of pants I wear.
I love my Skechers so much that I’m even sliding them on now that we are back in Calgary. As long as it’s nice and cold and the snow is hard, and I’m just going to and from the vehicle, I can forego lacing up clunky snow boots and chase after Cub who has already let himself out the door and is racing me to our car.
Both Papa Wolf and I appreciate the total flexibility of our Skechers. If ever there were yoga pants for your feet, these are them.
