Just Keep Swimming… in Bummis’ Swimmi!

One-Size SwimmiI received a product sample and compensation for this post as a Bummis Ambassador.

I am not a pushy person when it comes to cloth diapers. Some of my mommy friends feel the need to apologize or justify why their diaper bag is full of disposables, knowing I’m such a cloth diaper fan. The truth is, I really don’t care if your family uses disposables or cloth, and I certainly am not silently judging what works for your family! If someone uses disposables but is curious about trying cloth or has questions, I’m ready and really quite enthusiastic to offer guidance. But you will never, ever catch me telling another mom that cloth is the only way to go.

Cloth swim diapers, on the other hand? I might be inclined to recommend them to the stranger next to us at the splash park. Why? Because I feel like the choice is obvious and the arguments against are pretty much non existent.

Extra laundry? Nope.

Large initial investment? Nope.

Less effective than their disposable counterpart? Nopity nope nope!

It’s even easier to tout the benefits of a one-size swim diaper like Bummis’ One-Size Swimmi because it will fit your child from Mommy and Me Swimming Lessons at three months old all the way to running around the splash pad at age three!

Meet Bummis’ One-Size Swimmi

Bummis Swimmi

Besides saving you money on disposable swim diapers, Bummis’ Swimmi comes in a huge variety of adorable prints, meaning you can totally skip spending any money on swimsuit bottoms for the whole time your child is in diapers! Ours is in their latest release, featuring watermelons, toucans, flamingos and pineapples: Tampa.

Don’t worry about the prints fading, either: the Swimmi’s exterior is made of a unique laminated lycra fabric that will stay vibrant and gorgeous for plenty of poolside play.

As is the case with all diapers designed to be worn in the water, the Swimmi doesn’t absorb urine. (Otherwise, it would also absorb all the pool water!) However, it is specially engineered to hold solids in, so you’re not the parent sheepishly trying to fish a turd out of the kiddy pool!

The sturdy snap closures mean you won’t snag your swimsuit when you’ve got baby on your hip, and sneaky toddlers are less likely to rip off their diaper at inopportune moments! As with Bummis cloth diaper covers, the Swimmi features a nice, soft piping around the waist, so it doesn’t dig into little tummies.

You’ll notice the Swimmi has a double gusset, so there’s a nice seal around the legs. No floaters are floating out of this swim diaper!

If your child takes a break from splashing for lunch, you can put her back in her regular diaper, wring out her Swimmi, and you’re good to go when she gets her second wind. Disposable swim diapers get tossed after use, and they cost upwards of 60 cents each! Not to mention that they’re sized, so if you don’t finish up a package this summer, you might still have to buy a brand new one next season. For me, that’s the appeal of Bummis’ One Size Swimmi: for $25.99, it’s the only swim diaper your child needs, from that very first dip in the pool all the way to the big-kid water slides. And like all of Bummis products, the Swimmi is made in Canada!
