The Best of the Breast from Milkies

Ouch. Particularly with my first baby, my nips were tender and cracked during our first few weeks of breast feeding. Milkies Milk Trays

Since it’s unusual for Little Miss to need a bottle of pumped milk, Milkies Milk Trays are the perfect way for me to store small quantities just for her. Before using my Milk Trays, I used to grab the smallest frozen bag of milk from the freezer and hope she’d finish it. I hated coming home to 3 or 4 oz. of wasted milk! Now, when I pump for the milk bank, I pour off just an ounce or two (each section of the tray holds one ounce), and freeze it for the next time I need to go out. 

She’s also starting to drink from a sippy cup at meal time, so sometimes I’ll give her an ounce at lunch time. 

Once your milk is frozen, you can pop your milksicles out and store them in a freezer bag, allowing you to stockpile lots and lots of one-ounce portions which you can easily combine depending on your needs. If you use breast milk in cereals or purees, you can even cut a milksicle in half or smaller to defrost just the right amount for your bowl!

Done breastfeeding? You can use the trays to make ice cubes that will actually fit in your water bottles!

Milkies Breast Pad Ever

I will never truly understand the plight of the large-breasted woman. While I spent a lot of time pumping my arms and chanting « I must, I must, I must increase my bust » in front of my mirror as a teenager, as a nursing Mom, I look down at my little ant hills with gratitude. Sure, we’ve seen a bit of growth since baby birthing, but I don’t even think I’m a B-cup. Milkies Breast Pad Ever is totally different from any nursing pad you’ve ever tried.

They’re contoured and lightly padded, so they hug your breasts and support them rather than lying flat and getting wrinkly under your shirt (I assume that’s what happens when you actually have any boobs … my nursing pads typically just stick out of my bras since they’re larger than my tiny cups!). That’s right, these are nursing pads that give you a lift. But not just a lift: these nursing pads are bulletproof leak protection.

The spongy, absorbent inner core is thickest beneath your nipple where your milk pools. Like a sponge, according to Milkies’ instructions, you can actually wring out your pads if you have a major let down, and continuing using them until you get home. The durable outer layer is waterproof and super smooth, and a soft bamboo rayon layer touches your skin. 

I admit I am a bit skeptical about wringing out my nursing pads midday and continuing to use them. However, it does sound pretty practical. At home full time with the kidlets, it’s unusual for me to be in a situation where I wouldn’t just swap my soaked nursing pads for a dry pair. But when Cub was still nursing and I had returned to work part time, there were days when a pair of Breast Pad Evers would’ve been awesome! I remember being away from my nursling for a full twelve hours and feeling the milk flowing from my breasts at a work dinner party. Not only would the Breast Pad Evers have looked amazing under my blouse, but I wouldn’t have had to worry about a wet t-shirt competition with my unsuspecting colleagues. 

Whereas the Breast Pad Evers make little ol’ me feel like Dolly Parton, I suspect that my larger-busted comrades would really appreciate the extra support and lift provided by these contoured and super-absorbent nursing pads!
