Meet the bbluv Nidö Mini Travel Bed & UV Tent

Sometimes I come across a product a bit too late*. I was looking for an item like the bblüv Nidö Mini 2-in-1 Travel Bed & UV Tent when Cub was 5 months old and we went to Mexico. Both on the sand and poolside, I struggled to keep Cub comfortably in the shade. He wasn’t yet mobile, and he also wasn’t sitting independently. However, he was definitely rolling. So, the only « seating » available for him was not exactly a safe solution.

And when he would conveniently decide to nap while we were enjoying the pool, there wasn’t really anywhere to lay him down without being within arm’s reach of him.

When we were on the beach, I would literally lay him down in the bushes.

Alas, I did not have a Nidö Mini:

Protection from the sun and pesky bugs

The Nidö Mini provides protection from UVA and UVB rays, which is particularly important since you’re not really supposed to put sunscreen on young babies. The mesh canopy is also perfect for keeping out the bugs! It’s not just for the beach either. You can use it at the park or in your backyard: anywhere you want to keep baby contained and in the shade, protected from the wind, and out of any mischief. Little Miss loves to pick up every single twig and speck of dirt when I put her down to attend to her big brother, so the Nidö Mini would keep her safe while I’m desperately trying to catch a ladybug for Cub. (True story. It took me an hour and then he looked at it in his jar for about thirty seconds.)

Plus, it’s a travel bed. Our kids have always shared a bed with us in hotels and when visiting family and friends, but I know this is not ideal for many travelling families. Travelling with a playpen is super awkward (even if it’s called a « Pack and Play »), and the cribs provided by hotels can be sketchy at best. If you’ve got a baby under six months, the bblüv Nidö Mini is a great travel-sleep solution!

When you’re ready to use it, just pop it up and into action! The soft mattress is removable so you can shake out any sand or debris, and wipe clean as needed. Plus, two removable toys are included. The dimensions of the Nidö Mini are just 33″ x 28″ x 22″.

I can also see the utility of the Nidö Mini if you’re not travelling. If you have a big kid and a baby, you’ll know that you spend a lot of time trying to keep the baby away from the big kid’s toys. Now that Little Miss can roll and push herself where she wants to be, I’m turning around to find puzzle pieces and Lego on the way to her mouth. Not only is this a choking hazard, but the big kid may subscribe to Cub’s motto of: « Kid toys are for kids. Baby toys are for babies. » The Nidö would keep the new baby out of the older sibling’s space until she’s able to crawl out!

*When I originally wrote this post I didn’t expect I’d have more kids who could actually test out the bbluv Nidö!

The full-size Nidö got tons of use from my twins, and my daughter (who was just crawling when I wrote this post) loved playing in it too at age 3! It made my list of must-have gear for moms!
