I’ve been admiring Harp Diaper’s fluffy creations ever since I discovered that there was such a thing as WAHM cloth diaper makers. There was no doubt in my mind when Deborah suggested I review a newborn fitted for Little Miss Cub. I told her I wanted something to impress the big brother, and that he loves superheroes. I think she hit the nail on the head:

As a single mom, Deborah started Harp, (the name is an acronym of her daughter’s four names) to help start a nest egg for her little chick. Hopefully after this review, you’ll be eager to shop and help her grow that egg even more!

Here’s a look at the specs for a Harp Diapers Newborn Fitted:

The diaper comes with a long, almost hour-glass-shaped insert that is not attached:

It was, if memory serves correctly, the second diaper Little Miss Cub ever wore. She is now a month old, so it’s funny to see how much she’s changed since she was born! Her nose is all flat in the pictures below, but it regained its shape after a few hours. Little Miss was born at 6 lbs, 14 oz., and though this is slightly below the lower weight limit, it fit no problem.

Now Little Miss is exactly 10 lbs, and we are on the last waist snaps. Assuming she keeps growing longer rather than wider, we may make it to 14 lbs. I’ll keep you posted! Here she is somewhere between 8 and 9 lbs, with the waist snaps done unevenly to get the best fit:

Our Sweet Pea, Rumparooz and Thirsties (newborn & XS) covers all fit perfectly on top, and make for a blow-out proof day time combo thanks to the leg ruffles.

My favourite things about our Harp Newborn Fitted:

• The leg ruffles for optimum poop-splosion containment;
• The unattached insert: I can fold it as I please and also keep using it as a booster once she’s outgrown the diaper;
• Bamboo velour against the skin for a slight stay-dry effect (much more so than cotton);
• Umbilical snap down, so we got to use it right away;
• Dual closure snaps allow you to stagger for a tighter fit around the leg and looser at the belly (or vice versa);
• Enough absorbency for 2-3 hours of day time use under a cover (without any kind of booster);
• Excellent fit under newborn covers, without being bulky.

My least favourite things about our Harp Newborn Fitted:

• The insert is longer than the diaper, which is good because you want to be able to fold it (and because it’ll make a good one-size diaper booster), but due to the hourglass shape, I was never quite sure how to fold it. On the other hand, I love how the insert is wider at the back for more coverage.
