It is now my three-year Aurora-versary. I started using Aurora Heat reusable hand and body warmers in November of 2022. Just as the arrival of pumpkin spice everything signals the arrival of cooler climes, the first time pulling out my Aurora Heat wrist warmers—because my hands are freezing even though the heat is on in the house—means it’s time to rotate my closet to winter mode.
If you’ve never heard of Aurora Heat and are curious about the story behind this Canadian, indigenous-owned company built around sustainability, you can check out my introductory post from 2022.
Since the start of our partnership, Aurora Heat has increased its product line and I’ve been lucky enough to continue collaborating with them to try out their new beaver fur creations. In this post I am going to tell you all about the various styles and sizes of Aurora Heat warmers so you know which ones will best meet your body-warming needs.
Aurora Heat Reusable Pocket Warmers

| Quantity: 2 | Dimensions: 3 in. diameter / one-size fits all | Price: 59 CAD |
Something I immediately noticed when I started using Aurora Heat products was how soothing it felt to rub my fingers along the soft beaver fur. When my daughter was younger, she had a loonie-sized beaver fur medallion from Aurora Heat that she would wear around her neck as a calming tool when she was feeling anxious. As someone who has always picked at the skin around my nails as a sort of anxious tic, I am constantly trying to find an alternative fidget to preserve my skin. As a child, and frankly well into early adulthood, I had a piece of flannel fabric that I would run obsessively through my fingers at bedtime. During my most anxious times, I would even slip that piece of fabric into my pocket. The first time I held the Aurora Heat Reusable Pocket Warmers in hand, I knew these would finally replace that little piece of flannel fabric that disintegrated around 2010.
These Timbit-sized, double-sided beaver fur circles are a delight to run through my hands as I’m on my evening walk. Moving the warmers back and forth through my bare hands in my pockets is very helpful for maintaining mindfulness. But, of course, the main purpose of these little circles is to warm your hands. Moving the warmers around in my hands immediately starts to generate warmth. Wearing my wrist warmers and holding the pocket warmers in my hands keeps my hands toasty warm and my mind calm.
If you tend to skip the mittens and prefer to keep your hands warm in your pockets, if you are a fidgeter or a skin picker, whether it’s outdoors or at the hockey rink, I would definitely recommend Aurora Heat Pocket Warmers.
You could also quite feasibly tuck these cute little warmers into a toddler’s socks or mittens.

Aurora Heat Thumb Warmers
| Quantity: 2 | Dimensions: 1 in. wide x 4.75 in. long / one-size fits all | Price: 39 CAD |

When using Aurora Heat Hand Warmers, your poor thumbsies might get jealous of all the softness and warmth that your index-to-your-pinky get to experience. Aurora Heat Thumb Warmers wrap around your lonely thumbs and keep them warm inside your mittens or gloves. I would recommend these thumb warmers quite simply if your thumbs are always freezing despite wearing warm mitts or gloves. Of all Aurora Heat’s products, the thumb warmers are the least versatile: their dimensions make them useful for not much more than your thumbs, or possibly to wrap around what my twins’ call your toe thumbs!
Aurora Heat Kids’ Hand Warmers
| Quantity: 2 | Dimensions: 3 in. diameter / baby to about 8-years-old | Price: 55 CAD |

I will be the first to admit that I do not let my children use our Aurora Heat products without my direct supervision. Why? Because they are expensive! I worry that at school, their hand warmers could easily disappear. I know that some parents will put a little stitch in the hand warmers to secure them to the inside of their children’s mitts, and as long as you do not have reason to fear the mitts themselves will be lost, this a very viable solution.
My kids have a total of 30 minutes outside recess, and they do not go outside if it is extremely cold. So their hands and toes are okay without the extra warmth at school and I don’t have to worry about their Aurora Heat products getting lost.
When we are out together as a family, I can make sure our Aurora Heat warmers make it safely back home.
I would be very much inclined to recommend Aurora Heat’s products for kids who do winter sports. The skiers, the snowboarders, the snowshoers and even the snow-ball makers would all benefit from the extra toastiness in their socks and their mittens. My kids all love the way the beaver fur feels against their skin.
Aurora Heat Hand Warmers
| Quantity: 2 | Dimensions: 3 in. x 4 in. (size small) / 3.5 in. x 5.5 in. (size large) | Price: 88 CAD |

Once the temperature drops below freezing, my Aurora Heat Hand Warmers stay permanently inside my favourite pair of mittens. You can position the fur as you like; I place it so the fur is against the palm of my hand and the inside of my fingers. Some people will wrap it over their finger tips. If you wear gloves rather than mittens, you would have to wrap it around your palms. Just like with the pocket warmers, if I move my fingers around in my mittens, I start to generate body heat and that heat is reflected back onto my hands thanks to the fur. Think infinitely rechargable and totally sustainable mitt warmers!
Aurora Heat Foot Warmers
| Quantity: 2 | Dimensions: 3.5 in. x 4.5 in. (size small) / 4 in. x 5 in. (size large) | Price: 88 CAD |

I use my Aurora Heat Foot Warmers inside my house slippers as well as inside my Bogs winter boots. They’re comfy to step on and provide extra insulation, even with socks on. You can also wrap them around your toes or place them against the soles of your feet and then pull your socks on. This allows for that splendid body heat reflection. Family members who also use Aurora Heat use the foot warmers in their snowboarding boots for extra warmth.
Aurora Heat Wrist Warmers
| Quantity: 2 | Dimensions: wrist circumference range of 4.5 in. to 8.5 in.; sizes x-small to large | Price: 128 CAD |

Aurora Heat Wrist Warmers are the one Aurora Heat product I couldn’t face winter without. I am, in fact, wearing them as I type this blog post. Come late October—after months of feeling too hot despite the A/C being turn on—I start to feel constantly cold, despite the heat being on. This means it’s time to switch from my neck fan to my wrist warmers. My hands stay warm when I am typing and if I start doing anything remotely movement-based, like running the vacuum, I start to sweat because of how much heat my wrist warmers are reflecting back on my skin.

In general, I find wearing my wrist warmers in the house helps me maintain a comfortable body temperature. My mother, a fellow cold-hands-in-the-winter gal, wears her wrist warmers in bed while reading, otherwise her hands get too chilly turning the pages. I do the same, but if I forget to take them off before I fall asleep … I am very sweaty upon waking. To explain how well these wrist warmers keep you warm once you’re moving, know that one of the worst mistakes I can make on a stressful winter morning is to put my wrist warmers on too soon in the “get the kids out the door” process: I end up starting to sweat before we make it to the van. I wear my wrist warmers indoors and outdoors all winter long. If you have constantly cold hands or even Raynaud Syndrome, Aurora Heat Wrist Warmers will be your favourite winter accessory.
Aurora Heat Head & Body Warmer
| Quantity: 1 | Dimensions: 6.5 in. diameter | Price: 98 CAD |

We all know we lose most of our body heat through our heads! Okay, confession. I just googled that and it’s apparently a myth. Let’s say something not based on a flawed 1970 US Army study. Having a cold head is uncomfortable, and a warm head is a happy head. I place my Aurora Heat heady & body warmer inside my favourite toques to add an extra layer of warmth. You can use this body warmer anywhere you can secure it on your body: with a tight-fitting camisole it could be placed in the small of your back or on your stomach, for example. If you’re looking for a single, larger warmer for different spots on your body, definitely consider the Aurora Heat head & body warmer.
Aurora Heat Breast Warmers
| Quantity: 2 | Dimensions: 4 in. diameter (small) / 5 in. (medium-large) | Price: 88 CAD |

I only just received Aurora Heat’s breast warmers, so I haven’t had a chance to try them yet. They’re designed to slide into your bra and keep your nips from freezing. Having breastfed for what feels like a millenium, I imagine that the warm coziness of Aurora Heat’s breast warmers would’ve been a true delight during my multiple bouts of mastitis. Just because they’re called breast warmers doesn’t been they can’t warm other body parts. Their dimensions feasibly allow them to fit into slippers or boots, or roomy mittens.
Aurora Heat Ankle Warmers
| Quantity: 2 | Dimensions: 7.5 in. diameter (small) – 10 in. (large) | Price: 157 CAD |

These ankle warmers have been on my wish list since I first started working with Aurora Heat. They’re about the only Aurora Heat product I haven’t tried yet. I can only imagine that all the wonderful things that the wrist warmers do for my hands, Aurora Heat’s ankle warmers would do for my feet. I will update you if and when I get a chance to test them out!
