Crayola Color Wonder: Frustration-Free Fun for Everyone

Crayola Color Wonder: Frustration-Free Fun for Everyone

I don’t know about you, but at our house it’s very hard to find something that a preschooler and a one-year-old can do together without mutual frustration. She wants to destroy any LEGO buildings he constructs, turns the pages too soon on a book he wants to read, eats the puzzle pieces in front of him, presses the buttons on the Apple TV remote during a gripping Pokémon fight scene, or irreparably damages his artwork with the swipe of her crayon. I love to sit down and colour with Cub, but occupying his sister so we can do so proves impossible unless I also give her a marker. It only takes seconds for her face, clothes and hands to be fully coloured. Luckily, this past Sunday, as I stared down the barrel of seven more hours till bedtime, I had an activity in mind that they could both do: Crayola Color Wonder.Crayola Color Wonder: Frustration-Free Fun for Everyone

Markers and finger paints that only draw on special Color Wonder paper mean zero mess. Color Wonder markers won’t draw on regular paper, walls, furniture, clothes or skin. No need to put a smock on Little Miss Cub, no need to move my precious agenda out of markers reach.

Cub wanted to start in immediately on the Paw Patrol colouring book. At first, he was dismayed to see that the marker appeared white when he pulled off the cap.

But as soon as he touched marker to paper, the magic began and he was hooked. Our first sitting with Color Wonder was the longest he has ever stayed engrossed in his colouring. It was also the longest Little Miss was able to participate in the activity without making a mess or getting annoyed that she couldn’t use markers too!

Little Miss is a bit too young still for the finger paints. She just wants to lick the paint off of her fingers. That said, at least her mouth didn’t turn blue! The paints and markers are nontoxic and safe for kids to use, but I still don’t want her eating them. I was actually happier giving her a marker to hold in her fist, and she seemed to enjoy drawing on the plain Color Wonder paper, seated at the table next to her much admired big brother. Half the time she was drawing with the wrong end, but at least the business end wasn’t colouring her sleeves or her face!

I like how the Color Wonder colouring sheets have images with large spaces to colour rather than super fine details. Cub’s practicing his fine motor skills by working on staying inside the lines. Cub’s favourite part of the Color Wonder colouring pages are the hidden designs that are only revealed once you colour over them!

He went ahead and coloured in every Paw Patrol pup’s tag to see their symbol magically revealed.

Color Wonder kits are ideal for travelling over the holidays. On the airplane or in the car, or on Grandma’s white sofa, there’s no stress! They also make awesome stocking stuffers that the kids can start using right away without worrying about wrecking their holiday outfits or ruining the table cloth.

You can find Color Wonder products at all major retailers, or at Crayola’s online store

  1. This is genius! I want to try it out for myself, haha. But seriously, this would be great in a classroom too! I can see it now! Did Cub try the finger paints yet? Are they also white?

As a side note, when did your cubs get so big?!

Ya, so the finger paints actually kind of look like lip gloss! They’re almost clear. You’d only know what colour you’re getting based on the lid.

What a fantastic idea! I love my art and want my kids to appreciate it too but I HATE the clean up. How do those little hands manage to get it everywhere in seconds??? I love the Paw Patrol one I am definitely picking that up for my nephew for Christmas!

  3. Hahaha this sounds like our house… my 3-year-old wants to be doing whatever her older sisters are doing and the 1-year-old is also starting to do that too. 🙂 I love the idea of Color Wonder! My girls love drawing but my hubby HATES markers with a passion. I’ll have to check these out. 🙂 Thanks for sharing!

I love these they really are mess free!

We have these! My three year old got one as a present from friends when the new baby came, and she loved it so much I bought her a second set for Christmas. The princess and Frozen sets we got have special glitter paper which only added to the love.

  6. My son never wanted to finger paint (he has a thing about textures and getting messy sometimes) but he got the Color Wonder fingerpaints for a birthday present one year and it was his gateway to getting over his fear of painting! He liked that he could be really dainty about it (just dipping one finger in, painting with it, and then wiping his finger off again promptly afterwards) and I loved that there wasn’t any mess to clean up when he was done 😉 We don’t have any of the coloring books, though, and since he HATES coloring (which of COURSE they do a ton of in kindergarten!) that Paw Patrol coloring book might be a good Christmas present for him! Maybe it’ll get him over that issue, as well 😉

What a PERFECT product for young children. Mine always gravitate towards the bright colors of markers, but there’s always a mess somewhere I didn’t anticipate.

  12. I love this! Little Mama always loved anything to do with art, drawing, painting, and coloring. Lots of frustration too. This is a brilliant way to keep them feeling confident and enjoying themselves. And the finished product is always awesome. Plus less clean up for mom. hee hee 🙂

I have been a CRAYOLA fan for so many years. I’m never disappointed with their products. They always set the theme for good, quality family time. Great post! And when they say they are non-toxic I trust that.
