For those of you that don’t already know, I have been running social media for Funky Fluff for almost three years now. If you’re a Funky Fluff fan, you may have noticed that things have gone a bit quiet since last spring. Retailers were not getting any more new stock since the release of the six #BringingFunkyBack colours and the introduction of the Funky Fluff Clutch and Katniss print. Fans and retailers alike have been messaging me since the summer. “Lindsay, what is going on?!” And for the most part, I haven’t really known much more than you guys.
Despite its success, Funky is a SMALL company. It’s owners Tricia and Kathy doing all the shipping and customer service on their own, me running social media and a couple local ladies doing quality control. If you know anything about business, you’ll know that you’ve got to be able to meet customer demand, and for that, you need infrastructure and finances. Since I don’t know much about business, I like to think of it terms of fairy tales. Cinderella didn’t have the cash to kit herself out to meet Prince Charming at the ball. She needed her Fairy Godmother to take control of the situation. Funky Fluff needed its own Fluffy Godmother. But who?!
Bummis. That’s who. Yup, the same Bummis that has been in the cloth diaper business since the 80s. The company who was promoting cloth diapers long before they became cool. The company who has the know-how and the resources to take Funky Fluff to the next level.
Funky Fluff is happily and excitedly coming under the umbrella-ella-ella-eh of Bummis. I’ve watched Kathy and Tricia pour their heart and soul into Funky Fluff, and I’ve helped them grow their online presence since they gave me carte blanche to run their diaper release parties and Facebook activities with my signature candour and wacky sense of humour. I knew that earlier this spring, they had hit a brick wall. The dreams were there, but the means of achieving them needed to be found. So that’s where they’ve been. They’ve been searching for solutions or a possible Fluffy Godmother, and I’m so happy they’ve found her!
Kathy and Tricia will be sticking around for some time and working with their new Fluffy Godmother to transition the operational side of the company and slowly hand over the reins of their brand to those behind the scenes at Bummis. Fear not, the heart of Funky Fluff will remain the same. I’ve got some fun things up my sleeve to keep you on board with us until product can be restocked at your favourite retailers. (I wish it were as easy as the wave of a magic wand …)
You’re not only going to get to name new prints and colours as is the norm, I’ve upped the ante and gotten permission from the powers that be to let you be the deciding voice on three returning colours from the current line up, plus one RETIRED colour and one print that will go into production! Oh, and I also have some retired prints and colours to give away! And fear not: I love the AWJ just as much as you do, and I am loud. So yes, you’ll want to stick around in the coming weeks and months!

My hubby and I are trying to start a business ourselves so right now I’m finding anything business very very interesting. I definitely understand the search for finances to help you get where you need and want to be. I can’t wait to see how it goes. Also I messed up one of my Instagram entries. I hit a wrong number on my Instagram name and didn’t catch it until to late :'(

I can’t wait to find out what the returning colours are going to be! I really love our funky fluff diapers and wetbags, and am glad that they are keeping the two brands separate, instead of funky fluff being absorbed into the bummis lineup like they did with mini-kiwi.

I’m really sad that it sounds like Kathy and Tricia won’t be part of the company in the future but I’m really excited for Funky Fluff’s future. They are the only cloth diaper brand I use and it’s definitely because of Kathy and Tricia’s amazing customer service and dedication to their customers. <3 <3 <3

I don’t yet have diapers from either of these companies, but it’s so nice to know that FF found their Fairy Godmother. It must have been a difficult time, and a tough decision to make, but much better than watching all their hard work just slip away.
