I was a weird kid. I exaggerated headaches while reading so I could get glasses. I loved picking out new colours of elastics for my braces. I was devastated that my arm was only sprained and didn’t require a cast when I fell off my backyard swing. I kind of hoped I would get lice.
In my defense, I have always loved when people play with my hair. My mother, on the other hand, cannot stand having someone touch her hair, so just brushing my hair for fun never really occurred to her. The idea that having lice would mean my mom would have to painstakingly root through my hair with a special comb and then massage my scalp with special shampoo was extremely appealing to me. I didn’t really think it through, obviously. Luckily for my mom, despite twelve years of public school and another five years as a teacher, I never got lice.
My son is about to turn four and is starting his first full year of preschool. He doesn’t share my love of scalp massages and luxurious shampoo treatments. He’s already got his chicken pox out of the way, but he has been otherwise spared from the most common childhood ailments. Something’s gotta give. Will it be lice?
It totally could be. As you know, I’m pretty picky about the body care products we use in our house. The idea of dousing my children with pesticides is … unappealing.
Pass on the Pesticides
Resultz® is the only head lice treatment that provides pesticide free treatment, is unlikely to cause resistance in lice and is also completed in 10 minutes. Current treatments containing pesticides carry the risk of accidental poisoning, and “are potentially toxic to
brain, spinal cord nerves, and nerve cells” according to the Committee to Evaluate Drugs. Resultz® contains isopropyl myristate, “which is widely used in skincare and cosmetic products.” It dissolves the wax coating on the exoskeleton of lice, which dehydrates them and leads to their demise.
Resistance is Futile
It is unlikely for lice to develop resistance to Resultz® because it isn’t a pesticide. Mutant lice? No thanks!
10 Minutes to Freedom
Much to the disappointment of my younger self—who envisioned hours spent having my mother’s undivided attention on my massage-loving scalp—it only takes 10 minutes to complete a treatment with Resultz®.
You can get Resultz at pharmacies nationwide! Find out more about this effective, over-the-counter lice treatment here.
Did you have lice as a kid? Have you had to deal with it as a parent?
This post has been brought to you by Resultz but the opinions are my own.

Lice is rampant now! ? I have awful memories of getting them as a kid and having to have the eggs painfully removed and the nasty treatments that burned. I’m happy there are alternatives to those treatments these days.

My son got lice while I was pregnant with his sister and we were able to get rid of them with coconut oil, a shower cap, and a lice comb. It was kind of empowering in a supercrunchy sort of way, but I’d be lying if I said a 10 minute solution isn’t darn tempting. We just re-entered the public school system after 3 years of homeschooling so I’ll definitely be keeping this in mind.

My stepson just started school last Monday and tonight a live notice got sent home. I hate those nasty bugs mainly because I seem to get lice and it takes me the complete bottle just for me.

I had super long hair as a kid, and every time there was an outbreak of lice at school, I was sure to get it. My poor mom. I am really glad to hear there is a natural solution. I will keep this in mind for when my little one is school age.

My kids both have long hair and they are girls and close talkers. Although I escaped childhood without lice…I have in fact had to treat my own hair because my kids came home with head lice. These are the words that strike fear into the hearts of parents everywhere. I hate that little notice when it comes home stating someone in your child’s class has been found to have nits or lice. UGH. Nothing yuckier. We spent one entire summer battling really resistant lice. They were so hard to get rid of and my oldest had super thick hair and a lot of it and it was just torture for her. (and or me too by extension) Then her younger sister got a few – because they are close and they play together and cuddle and then because I hug them I was treating my hair too. SO NOT FUN! I am sure I have tried this one. I have used almost every brand on the market and many herbal remedies and preventative options too. JOYS of parenting school aged children.!

With two school aged girls I have had to deal with lice in the past. I was even dubbed the lice lady at the daycare I worked at since I was the only one of the staff that had ever dealt with it so I knew what I was looking for. Thankfully we haven’t had an incident in YEARS but it could always happen and to anyone! Thanks for sharing.

Lice is one of my biggest fears – honestly. With school back in I am glad that I know about this. I definitely want to keep lice away or deal with it quickly if it happens

Oh this makes me happy that there’s something out there that isn’t a pesticide that those darn things could get immune to. You’re hilarious as a kid! You sound a lot like me, minus the lice part. I HATE bugs! Hence, my relief reading this post. I have luckily never experienced it, because the idea of it makes me want to scream. And if it happens to my little one – I’ll be prepared! And I’ll also make sure my husband is the one doing it all. Hah!

Just the word lice makes my head itch! I have never had lice and my kids haven’t either but I’m sure the time will come! Great tips on how to combat lice. I will keep this in mind.

Never had lice but have dealt with it as a visiting nurse in the community. Nasty to deal with! I hope my child never acquires this in school.

Thankfully I’ve never had lice… somehow I dogged that bullet as an elementary school teacher! It’s good to know of an effective product in case my son brings some buggies home.

I did have it as a child and I didn’t think it was a big deal, but with my first child in kindergarten this year and all the lice notifications they keep sending home, I’m already FREAKING OUT! (I told him if he got lice we’d just shave his head, and he got really sad and said, “But BALDY isn’t my STYLE!”. LOL, that was funny. But thinking about treating him for lice, that part is NOT FUNNY AT ALL!) 😉 I think this might be a whole topic that I pass off to my husband (just like earwax is his domain and poop is mine. We all have our strengths . . . . ) 🙂

I haven’t heard of this one, but it’s good to have several products available and lined up if you or your kids end up getting lice! Thanks for letting me know about this product!

That’s great news! I had no idea there was a pesticide free likes treatment available. I would use this in a heartbeat over the chemical kind!
