Cub is most definitely old enough to not be using a sippy cup. However, neither of us likes spills. In fact, Cub freaks out if I hand him a cup and it has drips of condensation on it or is still wet on the outside because I’ve pulled it out of the dishrack. “Mom!! It’s dirty! Need a cloth!” If condensation irks him, you can imagine that he goes berserk if his milk, juice or water spills or leaks out of his bottle. As for me, I’ve got my hands full enough with a newborn to not risk giving my son an open vessel of liquid unless he’s under supervision and in confined quarters. And while Cub has never had a lovey of any kind (unless you count my boob or my hair), I often find him asleep with his arms wrapped around his sippy of water. Unwilling to disturb him by prying it from his paws, I’ve been awoken by his hollering when the slow leak from his sippy spout or straw has left his pillow sopping wet, and he is none too happy about it.
The Philips AVENT My Penguin Sippy Cup is the only sippy in our cupboard that truly does not leak: not one single drop. No amount of shaking causes a leak! He tried, really hard!
The cup is designed to help toddlers transition from bottle to cup, and features:
- Patent-pending leak-proof valve for spill-free drinking (with 30-day guarantee);
- Soft touch trainer handles to help little hands transition to independent drinking;
- Angled spout for an easy first sip;
- BPA-free;
- Compatible with all Philips Avent pumps, bottles and cups;
- All parts are dishwasher safe.

I’m most excited to try the newborn soothers. My first child never liked soothers, but it would be handy to have some in case the little one coming likes them!

The penguin cup looks awesome. I’m expecting in December though, so it’ll be a while before I’ll be able to try it on my baby.
