Pregnancy 2.0: Weeks 22 & 23

Pregnancy Journal 22 weeks

I know, I know. My pregnancy journal has really dropped off the radar. The whole “we’re packing up and moving across the country” thing really put a damper on my plans to meticulously document this pregnancy week by week.

Speaking of weeks: we leave in less than TWO. It’s just slightly insane, yet of course very exciting. I’m happy to report that I even have a midwife appointment booked at Matronae in Calgary just three days after we arrive in town! In Calgary there is one Birthing Centre, and unlike in Montreal you do have to pay to deliver there. However, we definitely want to sign up. As for health insurance, I’ll probably be paying out of pocket and seeking reimbursement from Quebec until my Alberta Health coverage kicks in after three months.

Pregnancy wise, all is well aside from one bout of pregsomnia…. and I know many Moms have trouble sleeping regularly while pregnant, so I can’t complain! My coats don’t do up any more, either…

I will see my midwife here in Quebec once more before we leave, and I’ll take my files to bring with me to Calgary for my new midwife. I’m pretty impressed: I emailed every midwife practice in Calgary, and almost all at least replied to take my name for their waiting list, and two specifically contacted me for an appointment!

Stay tuned to find out how the Maman Loup family adapts to life in Alberta!

Such exciting developments, Lindsey! Is the baby kicking for joy inside? I was wondering, do you typically have waiting lists for any type of health care provider in Canada, or just midwives?

  2. That’s great how it’s all coming together. Hope everything goes well over the next few weeks.

  3. You look great! Good luck with the move!
