*This post contains affiliate links. (Duh.)
As you know, I have settled down to an early retirement in my 10-bedroom, 20-bath Beverly Hills mansion thanks to the massive success of my Mommy Blog.
Bwahahhaha! If only that were true!
But do not despair, there are ways to monetize your blog so your husband will get off your back about the hours you spend hunched over your laptop. While, as with most things, there are more opportunities for American bloggers, I have managed to find Canadian programs that do bring in some cash!
Well.ca
This is by far my most lucrative affiliate program. I earn 5% commission on sales. By lucrative, I mean that I have earned over $600… in just over a year. Okay, it’s nothing to write home about (that’s not true, I always tell my Mom what my month’s Well.ca commission is), it’s also not too shabby for the amount of effort it takes me to earn that commission.
What makes Well.ca an awesome affiliate program is the variety of products they sell, the fact that shipping is free after $25 and the fact that I actually do shop there at least once a month because they carry tons of my favourite products and have frequent sales.
I also love that I can link directly to a product in question and not just the landing page. This makes it even easier to promote.
Every Monday I check out their current sales and schedule a few Facebook posts and Tweets to let my fans know what items I love are on special. This takes under 15 minutes. Besides that, I have an ad on my sidebar which took seconds to place. Because I have begun building myself a fairly loyal following, I have fans (to whom I am very grateful) who always remember to go via my affiliate link when ordering from Well!
They send your commission by cheque. I just received my July cheque today, so it takes about a month to receive the payment for the month in question.
Lagoon Baby
The owner of this Maple Ridge, BC-based cloth diaper shop is a dream to work with. I recently interviewed her for a profile over on the Funky Fluff blog, if you want to get to know her. (Oh, and if you want to shop, use my link!)
She offers 5% commission on all sales, which is credited to your account 1 month after a completed sale (in case of any returns). Because she carries all the best and biggest cloth diaper brands and accessories, as well as toys like Melissa & Doug and, of course, Tulas, it’s easy to refer people.
The only drawback is you can only link people to her homepage, and not to specific items. Once you’ve signed up, you’ll have access to ads you can place on your blog.
Lovable Labels
I’m a Love Bug! I don’t earn commission for working with Love Bug, but I do earn free products. I am kind of obsessed with labeling, but I’ve earned so many free labels that I’ve now begun bestowing them on my lucky friends. They also give you a 10% off referral coupon code, which earns you more free goodies when used by your readers. (I haven’t had that happen yet.) You can see my posts for Lovable Labels here.
Each month you receive a Love Bug Incentive offer. In exchange for a promotional post, you will receive free product. Their labels are really great, and you can start stockpiling for many years of daycare, school and camp!
Flipsize.ca /Moms Affiliate
Okay, so I haven’t actually made an affiliate sale yet for Flipsize.ca. However, thanks to Catherine’s (Flipsize.ca owner) invitation to sign up for Moms Affiliate, I have earned referral cash and sponsored post cash.
Flipsize.ca is just one of the many, many retailers whose affiliate programs you have access to with a Moms Affiliate account. There are also listings for sponsored posts, giveaways and coupon codes that will help you earn. Flipsize.ca seems to be one of the only Canadian retailers, and it’s definitely an easy one for me to promote since I am a happy Flipsize shopper!
So, Canadian Mommy Bloggers, what are your favourite ways to monetize your blog?
