On the heels of my successful “AMP Sized Duos versus AppleCheeks Envelope Covers” post, I thought I’d take a look at another ruffly pair: AMP One-Size Duos and Peachy Baby Covers.
First off, AMP (Annie Marie Padorie) and Peachy Baby are actually owned , manufactured and distributed by the same Winnipeg-based company. (A bit like how Banana Republic, Gap and Old Navy are all the same company, I suppose.)
They definitely look quite similar to the untrained eye, but have some major differences that will help you determine which brand is right for you.
As you can see, the weight-range of Peachy Baby is wider. The cross over snap closure allows for a snugger fit on tiny babies, and the wider wings and generally larger construction give higher-percentile babies room to grow.
The most critical difference between AMP and Peachy Baby is that Peachy Baby covers do not have an opening so they can be used as a pocket diaper. The only way to use them is by laying the insert in the diaper (AI2 method). Personally, this is the biggest reason why I’m not bent on keeping the Peachy Baby cover I bought in order to conduct this comparison. I would venture to say that with a pocket opening, Peachy Baby covers would be a big contender to beat out my beloved AppleCheeks since they are one-size and fit my big boy (30 lbs) very well (much better than AMP one-size Duos). I really love the long wings that give Peachy Baby covers such a generous fit, and I love the cross-over snaps for a tiny newborn squish. But I don’t see the point of having a fleece inner if it’s not to have the option of creating a stay-dry layer by putting the insert in the pocket!
Overall, I’d say that if your baby is quite small or of average size, AMP One-Size Duos are your best bet. If you have a bigger baby and you want the fit of AppleCheeks but in a 0ne-size diaper AND you don’t mind not having the pocket option, then I’d recommend Peachy Baby. (You can obviously still get the stay-dry effect by using a fleece liner or an insert that comes with a stay dry top, like Flip or Funky Fluff microfibre inserts or Bummis new Duo Brite inserts.
Have you tried either of these? Which did you prefer?
I purchased my Peachy Baby at Turtles in Bloom for the purpose of this review, and received my AMP OS Duo free for a previous review from NatureBumz.

I love cloth diaper comparisons, and had no idea these were from the same company! It’s neat to see the similarities, but also the small modifications that make each diaper special. I agree that if you’re going to make a cover/shell, it’s best not to line it with fleece. Then you can’t “wipe and re-use.” When I see fleece I think POCKET DIAPER.
