I love Dr. Bronner’s Castile Soap. Since starting my Beauty Products DIY Challenge, I’ve now replaced all soap-based products with recipes based on Dr. Bronner’s Castile Soap. The most versatile “flavour” is the Unscented Mild formula in liquid and bar form: you can simply add your own essential oils if you want to spice it up a bit. I recently tried the Pepperment-scented liquid soap in my shampoo (since I was out of peppermint essential oil any way) and it’s delightful!
Since Dr. Bronner’s products are 20% off at Well.ca this week (disclosure: I’m an affiliate), I thought I’d share the 4 ways I use Dr. Bronner’s to save money and also be kinder to my skin and the environment.
Four Dr. Bronner’s Castile Soap Recipes
- Peppermint Shampoo
- Liquid Hand Soap
- Body Wash
- Honey Face Wash (I haven’t posted about this, but my recipe is from this book. You can find many recipes online using plain old honey and liquid castile!)
Have you tried castile soap for anything yet? What are your favourite recipes?

I love making our own homemade cleaners, especially because I can change the scent up each time with EO’s. My next project is making Casile soap from scratch with potassium hydroxide and olive oil. We’ll see how it goes!
