Bambino Mio Miosolo All-in-One Diaper Review

I began my cloth-diapering journey using Velcro diapers. I was actually a very committed Velcro-user for a long time, and my husband still refuses to use snap diapers if he can avoid it. That being said, I do know that for many parents, Velcro is a deal-breaker. Velcro tabs are magnets for threads, hairs, fur and any sort of fluffy stuff that may be in your washing machine or around baby. On the flip side, Velcro makes it really easy to get the perfect fit, and it’s much easier to hand a Velcro cloth diaper to someone who has only ever used disposables and have them put it on baby correctly the first time around! I only send Velcro diapers to daycare, but my preferred model (bumGenius 4.0) was discontinued. I’m really glad we got to test drive the miosolo all-in-one, because once again I can recommend a Velcro diaper that’s great for daycare! (Or for checking your social media while you hang with your BFF.)

The miosolo all-in-one is a one-size diaper that is described as fitting from about 8 lbs. Because you can cross over the Velcro tabs, you can get a nice, snug fit on a tiny waist! My only concerns with using this diaper on a newborn would be the width of the crotch and the height of the rise. Little Miss Cub is 31 inches tall and weighs 21 lbs at one-and-a-half years old, and she is still wearing her miosolo on the shortest of the three rise settings. On all of her other one-size diapers, she’s now on the middle setting. So while a skinny minny newbie might be swimming in a miosolo at first, larger kids will benefit from how tall the rise is and from the extra room between the legs. Admittedly I’ve never come across a diaper that I’ve felt to be too wide between the legs, but a recent experience with a diaper that is too narrow (allowing poop to escape) has made me appreciate a generous cut between the legs.

As an all-in-one diaper, the miosolo has a microfibre insert that is attached to the back of the diaper and tucked into the pocket when in use. The insert has little fabric tabs sewn on it, making it easy to grab and pull out before putting the diaper in the wash.

I really like it when all-in-one diapers come with a pocket, and the miosolo pocket is easy to stuff with a booster.

I am very fond of natural fibre inserts for diapers, typically reserving microfibre only for boosters. I would love to see miosolo using a hemp/cotton blend insert, but I realize this would increase both the dry-time and the US$21.99 pricepoint.

In terms of absorbency, without adding any boosters, we can easily get up to three hours of wear out of our miosolo all-in-ones. As suggested by some cute little “miosolo diaper challenges” that were included with our shipment, I did try to use our all-in-one with a mioboost (a microfibre booster) overnight, but it was not at all sufficient for my night-nursing, heavy-wetting toddler. (Quick tip: when testing a new overnight diaper, always put a wool cover on top to prevent leaks!)

What I love about our miosolo all-in-ones:

  • Very durable and sturdy Velcro
  • Quick to dry
  • Nice and stretchy PUL
  • Super sticky laundry tabs (the closure tabs won’t detach in the wash and snag your other diapers)
  • Absorbent enough on its own for about three hours
  • Roomy and easy-to-stuff pocket that opens at the back
  • Particularly tall rise when fully unsnapped (taller than Funky Fluff and bumGenius)

What I like less:

  • Only available in Velcro
  • Velcro rectangles inevitably start to curl up
  • Only available with microfibre inserts
  • Waist Velcro doesn’t extend the full width of the front panel (so you lose about an inch of width for larger kids)

As I mentioned earlier, the miosolo is quite wide between the legs—much wider than our bumGenius and Funky Fluff diapers, for example. I do not find this to be in any way problematic, but feel like it’s worth mentioning as I know some parents seek diapers with a narrower cut. It’s about the same width as our Rumparooz but with a much taller rise.

If you are looking for some extremely user-friendly cloth diapers to help get a reluctant caregiver or partner on board, I highly recommend miosolo all-in-ones!

I make really big kids, so this diaper seems like a good fit! Thanks for the review 🙂

We have one and my husband loves the velcro! (It’s our only velcro diaper)
I was surprised at hoe absorbent the microfibre is!

I’ve seen this diapers popping up more and more but haven’t seen a review as good as yours to make me decide if I ant to add them to the stash or not. I love how they have more “gender neutral” prints that aren’t just plain colours.

  5. My daughter is due with her first next month, I’d really like her to try these. All the designs are precious. I had never heard of this brand before. Thanks for the review and the giveaway.

Thanks for the tip on testing AIO overnight. I have always wanted to try but never wanted to risk a leak! Still new to wool covers so I didn’t think of trying them as a solution.

I like the velcro. It’s easy and quick for a child who doesn’t want to stay still. I fasten the velcro before washing when possible to avoid picking up unwanted strings and fuzz. I lice comb used gently lifts unwanted material off the velcro. So many cute patterns they have!

We got a free Bambino Mio a few months back and I’m so excited to start using it when my little one arrives next month!

Great review! And as a former daycare worker, thanks for sending your kid in Velcro! It’s so much easier, especially when you are changing them standing up while potty training, much easier to get the right fit. I love Velcro diapers, but only have a couple used BG for my guy, all the rest are snaps. I’ll have to give this brand a try!

  10. Melissa A.

The only thing I would change is the Velcro! I love snaps!

I’m building my cloth diaper stash for my first little one due this spring and planning to get a few AIO’s. I’d love to try this one out!

I LOVE their diapers!! The fit is fabulous and the prints are seriously adorable!!!

Nice review! I have seen such products on the market but I always hesitated to buy them wondering if they are really effective. Good to know from another mom her experience with it!

  15. We actually LOVE our miosolos for overnight!! I’m using them with a hemp booster from Borrowed Planet, and we have only had one or two leaks in the few months we’ve been using them. They’ve worked better than fitteds + boosters and are so much trimmer. And the velcro is still in perfect condition, just have to remember to fasten the tabs before tossing in the pail. I would love to have more of these awesome diapers in our stash 🙂

My daughter has a few Bambino MioSolo diapers and loves them, esoecially for overnight. They are also easier to get on a squirmy baby than the snaps!! I would love to help her add to her stash.

  17. Dina Q

I love reading your reviews. It’s too bad that these are only available in velcro 🙁

  18. These sound awesome! I love all the different patterns they have 🙂

Thanks my daughter just has a baby and we love reading the reviews to get the best quality and price for the wee one !

I have tried to avoid microfiber in the past, but lately have had success with a couple of diapers that are a combination MF & bamboo. I love that this diaper has a pocket to add a natural fiber insert!

  21. This looks like a great diaper to try out! Thanks so much for the review! 🙂

Thanks for your thorough review! I would love to try this for a night time diaper. I am currently using BG 4.0 with prefolds/flats for stuffers. The fact that this is wider cut in the crotch is interesting to me, as the BG tends to be just a hair too narrow with as full as I have to stuff it for night time. It holds urine in fine, but if he goes #2 before I get him changed into his diaper for daytime, then the containment gets sketchy :).

  23. Elizabeth Matthiesen

A great review and I liked the tip for using the diaper overnight – a very good point made and appreciated. 🙂

  24. Danielle Petryshyn

I’ve heard good things about these diapers. But I’m not sure how I feel about only a Velcro option. I’m usually into snaps!

  25. KD

I have (so far) had long and lean babies, so it sounds like the miosolo would be a good fit for them, with the long rise! Not having the extra width with the velcro wouldn’t be an issue for us. Before having kids, I didn’t realize how diapers fit different babies differently!

  26. Melissa Stutzman

Great review! It is good to know it may not be the best fit for a newborn but sounds great for when she is a little bigger.

  27. Katie Arends

    Thank you for the review!

The prints are so cute on these! I like how sturdy they look, and how quickly they appear to dry. It’s also nice how the AIO insert is in a pocket vs. on top like many other AIO choices. Perhaps this would make big messes easier to clean up!? Plus, like you said, it’s nice to be able to add that extra absorbancy.
I agree that a snap option would be nice, but oh, well. At least the velcro seems sturdy, and, like you noted, it’s good for daycare. Or for babysitters. 🙂
I would like to give these a try!

  28. Amanda

Thank you for the review. Velcro always makes me a little uneasy, since my baby likes to rip them open. Now I know a nice day time diaper to look into.

  29. Laura

I only have a couple Velcro diapers. It’s good that these are durable though! The patterns they have are super cute too.
