Just Keep Swimming… in Bummis’ Swimmi!

One-Size SwimmiI received a product sample and compensation for this post as a Bummis Ambassador.

I am not a pushy person when it comes to cloth diapers. Some of my mommy friends feel the need to apologize or justify why their diaper bag is full of disposables, knowing I’m such a cloth diaper fan. The truth is, I really don’t care if your family uses disposables or cloth, and I certainly am not silently judging what works for your family! If someone uses disposables but is curious about trying cloth or has questions, I’m ready and really quite enthusiastic to offer guidance. But you will never, ever catch me telling another mom that cloth is the only way to go.

Bummis Swimmi 3

Cloth swim diapers, on the other hand? I might be inclined to recommend them to the stranger next to us at the splash park. Why? Because I feel like the choice is obvious and the arguments against are pretty much non existent.

Extra laundry? Nope.

Large initial investment? Nope.

Less effective than their disposable counterpart? Nopity nope nope!

It’s even easier to tout the benefits of a one-size swim diaper like Bummis’ One-Size Swimmi because it will fit your child from Mommy and Me Swimming Lessons at three months old all the way to running around the splash pad at age three!

Meet Bummis’ One-Size Swimmi

Bummis Swimmi

Besides saving you money on disposable swim diapers, Bummis’ Swimmi comes in a huge variety of adorable prints, meaning you can totally skip spending any money on swimsuit bottoms for the whole time your child is in diapers! Ours is in their latest release, featuring watermelons, toucans, flamingos and pineapples: Tampa.

Bummis Swimmi back view

Don’t worry about the prints fading, either: the Swimmi’s exterior is made of a unique laminated lycra fabric that will stay vibrant and gorgeous for plenty of poolside play.

Bummis Swimmi 2

As is the case with all diapers designed to be worn in the water, the Swimmi doesn’t absorb urine. (Otherwise, it would also absorb all the pool water!) However, it is specially engineered to hold solids in, so you’re not the parent sheepishly trying to fish a turd out of the kiddy pool!

The sturdy snap closures mean you won’t snag your swimsuit when you’ve got baby on your hip, and sneaky toddlers are less likely to rip off their diaper at inopportune moments! As with Bummis cloth diaper covers, the Swimmi features a nice, soft piping around the waist, so it doesn’t dig into little tummies.

Bummis Swimmi Side View

You’ll notice the Swimmi has a double gusset, so there’s a nice seal around the legs. No floaters are floating out of this swim diaper!

If your child takes a break from splashing for lunch, you can put her back in her regular diaper, wring out her Swimmi, and you’re good to go when she gets her second wind. Disposable swim diapers get tossed after use, and they cost upwards of 60 cents each! Not to mention that they’re sized, so if you don’t finish up a package this summer, you might still have to buy a brand new one next season. For me, that’s the appeal of Bummis’ One Size Swimmi: for $25.99, it’s the only swim diaper your child needs, from that very first dip in the pool all the way to the big-kid water slides. And like all of Bummis products, the Swimmi is made in Canada!

Thanks for the wonderful review when i read about the products of today it always amazes me,when my kids were small it was a square of flannel and plastic pants.I love the swimmi you reviewed its nice to know they will stay vibrant and gorgeous for many pool days.

  3. Kaylah

These look great! I didn’t even know about these ones, would love to try a one size option.

  4. Vanessa Aubie

I wanted a bummis swimmi before your review. Thank you for the review and the giveaway!

  5. Mea

Love the design and the print! I have an AC size one and my little one is on the tail end of it now. She is getting chunkier 🙂

    This will be great!

  6. Alyssa Greenberg

These diapers are GREAT! we have one for my older son but now the new babe needs one!

  7. Carole Dube

Thank you for the wonderful review. I love that you only need one as it would fit your child up to the age of 3 and the beautiful colours! This would be perfect for my granddaughter as they go to the pool and splash park a lot in the summer.

  8. Erin D

My Little Bird LOVES the water, so I’d love one of these for her! Seriously, the kid is 8 weeks old and already fusses when she doesn’t get her tub time ?

  9. Anne-Marie B.

I already have two of Bummis’ swim diapers and I love them. I’ve even used them as backup swimgear for my 4-year old when we forgot his bathing suit!

  10. Kayla D.

In the future, I would love to start using these. I would do anything, to save money.

  11. Awesome review 🙂 I may have to pick up a few Swimmi’s now!

  12. Mallarie D

I love the idea of double gussets! Sounds great for containing breastfed poops. I also love this print so summery.

  13. Lara

We have always used bummis swim diapers for our two girls. Now on the second one, it’s time to get a new one, because the Velcro isn’t really sticky anymore. I like the idea of the snaps on the new version, because as I said, the Velcro kinda dies after a while. It would be awesome if I won one instead of having to buy one for (hopefully) only a few more months until we have achieved potty training perfection!

  14. I love that the Bummis swimmi offers double gussets on the legs! I also love that it is one size – such good bang for your buck!

    1. Melissa O

YES!!! To the double gussets!! lol

  15. Holly MacRitchie

These are so cute! I need one for my diaper who is only 10 months! We are cloth diapering and this would be great for the pool.

  16. Amy S.

Since the fabric is a laminate does water pool in it (like it does if you just use a PUL cover as a swim)?

    1. Lindsay

I don’t find the Swimmi holds water any more than any pair of swimsuit bottoms, I just tested it in the bathtub to be sure! https://www.facebook.com/MamanLoupsDen/photos/a.373145962765976.89582.373115822768990/1088520551228510/?type=3

        Sweet! Thanks for the pic!

  17. Wendy

Great review! We have been looking for a swim diaper for my grandson. This one sounds awesome and the prints are adorable! Also love that it snaps, not Velcro-type fasteners that are so hard on everyone else’s swim wear. Thanks!

  18. Katherine Dixon

Thank you for the review. This Bummis swim diaper looks great. I really love the double gussets because EBF poop is no joke and I’d hate for my little one to be responsible for shutting down the pool. Haha!

  19. Melissa O

Bummis cloth diapers were our favourite. I’m sure the swim diaper is fabulous too. Super cute swim top your daughter is wearing too!

  20. Erika Sullivan

This looks great for my preemie who isn’t big enough for disposables yet. Also, we don’t swim enough to use all the swim diapers. These seem perfect.

  21. Rachel WG

This looks like a great swim diaper! I also love the matching tank that Little Miss is wearing! So cute!

  22. Angela SM

This looks great, but what is the difference between a swim diaper and a PUL cover? Could I just slap a thirsties cover on and go to the pool?

  23. This looks like a great swim diaper!

  24. Amanda Austin

I love Bummis products. We have used the swimmi diapers in all the different sizes, but this is so much more convenient having a single AIO swim diaper.

  25. These look like they would be much more comfortable for the littles than some of the alternatives out there.

  26. davi mueller

This would be great for by the lake! I love the double gussets!

  27. Linda

I’m glad that the snap closures are sturdy because my boy keeps pulling off his diapers.

  28. Laura

This print is absolutely adorable. This might be the cutest swim diaper that I’ve seen! 🙂

  29. Elishia

I really like the double gussets, and I love that print! Thanks for the review!

  30. Hanjia

Great review and love that they have double gussets! Love the fun prints. Thanks for the chance to win!

  31. Amber Ludwig

Oh my how cute!! Loove the double gussets!!!

  32. I would love to win the bummis for my baby girl..im also an Amazon reviewer and im always looking for products to test and write my 100% honest and unbiased opinion on. If theirs ever a time where theres an extra “test copy” of the bummis I would be honored to try it out in exchange for my amazon review. I also post my reviews on my personal social media accounts like Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Thank you for all these giveaways. Hopefully one day I will win one!!!

  33. diana

  37. Brittany Shilling

These swim diapers are so cute!!!!! We love cloth diapering and are preparing for our first family beach trip!!!! This would look too cute on the beach!!!

  38. gheewizzers

Looks great! I’m curious to know how snug it is, it looks a little tooooo comfy around your cubs belly! You say a little one will have trouble getting it off though so it must be a good fit! Thanks for the review!

  39. Amber Delorme

Wow I didn’t even know that BUMMIS made a Swim Diaper, and it’s got a dbl gusset as well , that’s too awesome!!..I Love how the BUMMIS swim diaper is an ALL IN ONE Size (can fit from a Newborn up to a smaller 4.5-5year old).. I also Love the sturdy snap closures on this swim diaper, “sturdy snaps” mean No ore worrying about the swim diaper getting snatched on anything, which can cause a naked bum baby/child, or can cause the snaps to get caught on my own bathing -suit and rip (not my idea of a Good time LOL)..Or else it can get caught on skin, causing a boo-boo (which is also no one’s idea of a Fun time outside)..I Definitely need to think about saving p for a few pairs this summer 🙂 I am Grateful that there is this GIVEAWAY for s to enter 🙂 GOOD-LUCK Everyone!!!

  40. Louisa Overstreet

Thank you for this review! I love that this is one size since I have a 6month old and 2 year old. And those double gussets and suede cloth are sure to keep EBM poop in better than a disposable swim diaper!

  41. hannah

Great review. I didn’t know that swim diapers were not designed to hold urine. It makes a lot of sense to use a cloth swim diaper instead of disposables. To me it’s the equivalent of using a disposable swimsuit instead of a fabric one.
The swimmi looks like a very durable product that will last.

  42. Linda Bragg

These sound and look fabulous!! Sure wish they had of had these when my kids were little!!! Could have saved on a lot of wash & diapers etc. Not sure if my great granddaughter’s mommy know’s of these but it would be great and such a nice surprise to gift her with some of these for my little grandie!!! She will be just 1 year old in August, and the only Great Grandie that I have so far. She’s a little princess and needs these swimmers. 🙂

  43. Cloth swims and diapers are really so much more cost efficient! We love the savings from cloth diapering, as well as minimizing our environmental footprint, plus they are just so darn cute! Thanks for the review, and the chance to win!

  44. The review was great explained how to use a swim diaper for those that never had . I love the pictures showing the parts and great things about this diaper verses a disposable. Love the double gussetts always worry about floaters.

  45. stephanie

Bummis are great and this looks like an awesome addition to their diaper line. I really love the little tank top that goes with it as well.

  46. Kristen G

I’ve been wanting to try a cloth swim diaper, and this Bummis one would be perfect! I like that it has double-leg gussets to keep everything in!! I am in love with the Tampa print!! So perfect for summer!!☀️?❤️

  47. Kara S

I feel the same as you when it comes to recommending cloth. I’m glad to lean a friend towards it if they ask my opinion and are feeling scared. Otherwise, it’s non of my business. I don’t understand why everyone doesn’t use cloth swim diapers, though!

  48. april

I love that this is a one-size swim diaper! I didn’t even think about that being out there! We use a fitted swim diaper right now, but as our little one gets bigger I will definitely look into a one-size!!

  49. Marie-Eve

We’d love to try this swim diaper bades on your review!!!?

  50. ERICA WEAVER

  51. Nadya B.

I have always wanted to try these!! Thanks for the chance!

  52. Mylène Bélanger

totalement en accord avec toi: aucune excuse à ne pas utiliser au moins une couche lavable de piscine puisque l’entretien est le même qu’un maillot de bain. J’adore ce nouveau print!

  53. Erika Letson

Thanks for the awesome review. Love it that they are one-size!

  54. Natasha

I just recently got a swim diaper and can’t wait to try it out, wish I knew about this with my 1st baby no more disposables for me. Such cute patterns too!

  62. Amanda joosten

We are planning to use cloth for our little one so these seem like a great option for the summer months. Thanks for sharing!

  70. Cheryll Shubert

We just got back from Cape Cod. I paid a bunch of money for the disposable “water diapers” and they don’t work AT ALL!! I was so mad!! I wish I saw this review before we went!! I would have definitely bought these instead plus they are so much better for the environment! Thanks so much for this…I had no idea they existed!! Truly grateful to you!! xoxo

  71. Wendy

Thank you for this great review of a product we are investigating for my grandson! Love the double gusset around the legs and the patterns are adorable. 73. Amy S.

Heya Mama Loup! I don’t know if you check old posts, but I was wondering if bummis gave you any info on why the bottom row of waist snaps are studs instead of sockets?

    Thanks!

      1. Lindsay

Hi Amy! It’s a matter of not wasting male snaps. Snaps come in sets of male/female, so if you only use four male snaps per diaper, you end up with way more male snaps than female snaps. Make sense?

        1. Amy S.

Ah, yes. Total sense. Thanks again Lindsay! ?

  74. Carole Dube

These look great and they would be perfect for the pool and the beach! My granddaughter would love them!

  75. Cheryl Layshock

I’ve been admiring this swim diaper for a while! Glad to hear some good things about it! I love bummis products. Why buy the disposable ones when you can just use the same one, over and over! ❤️

  76. Susanne

I can only see benefits from using a cloth swim diaper – they sag with lots of water, they are super easy to clean & quick to dry, and they are adjustable up to toddler size!

  77. Elishia

Little Miss Cub makes everything look adorable! That print is amazing!
