I received these items at no cost to facilitate my review. All opinions remain my own.
I’ve been following RaeAnna, the Mama behind Marlee Jeans, for a couple of years now. Her handmade children’s clothing is adorable, and while you’ll see a lot of girly looks on her page, she makes some pretty dapper duds for the boys, too. As much as I was nervous about being a mother to a little girl (mainly, honestly, I’m worried about being mother to a teenage girl, because… well… karma), having a little model for a Marlee Jeans 3-piece outfit is a definite perk.
I looked through RaeAnna’s work in her Marlee Jeans Fan Club and knew immediately that I wanted a faux-pocket raglan dress, leggings and her signature booties. Typically, RaeAnna makes the dress with a hood, but I preferred a version without a hood because I find hoods get in the way of winter layers.
I told her I loved purple, I chose the bat masks because… well… Batman… and this is what she sent my way:
I would wear this. I would absolutely rock this outfit. I suspect this marks the beginning of a trend of dressing my daughter how I would like to be dressed. (Until she starts voicing her opinion on the matter.)
Anyway, I think she likes it. If I’m going to choose custom clothes for my kids, I want to make sure it’s not just an outfit for a special occasion. I want these lovingly made garments to get worn. I chose leggings and a raglan dress because of both cuteness and comfort. If I’m essentially wearing glorified pajamas everyday, then so are my kids!
The leggings have cuffs that I can roll up if needed, so they grow with baby. The dress can slowly become a shirt as she gets longer. I think she may chub out of this ensemble (we have the 9 months size) for a while, but once she’s mobile and slims down, I expect the leggings will fit her again, and she may even rock the top as a three-quarter-length sleeve.
Since she outgrew her newborn-sized Padraigs, she is wearing her Marlee Jeans booties all the time. They have a light-fleece lining, and the tall (and oh-so-funky) snap-on cuffs keep them on, even in the babycarrier.
The only thing I’d change about our outfit is that rather than leggings, I’d get RaeAnna to make a pair of Maxaloones, since I love that roll-down waist band.
We get a lot of compliments on our Marlee Jeans outfit, and I’m sure it’s not our last!
