I received this product free for review. All opinions remain my own.
I have a love/hate relationship with getting mail. Mostly hate, because one of the worst parts about being an adult is bills. That’s what I love about subscription boxes, they’re something you can actually look forward to receiving in the mail once a month!
Ecocentric Mom was started by Rebecca, a fellow mama of four, who is a whole lot more knowledgable about green living than I am! With the goal of spreading her knowledge on healthy products for women and their families, the Ecocentric Mom boxes were born. The boxes come in three different options: the Mom Box, the Mom & Baby Box, and the Pregnancy Box. Each box contains 5-9 large sample or full sized natural, organic, sustainable and ethical products, and is shipped every second month. You can also buy one-offs as a gift for a friend or family member.
My Mom & Baby box came in the most beautiful packaging. That was the first thing I noticed about the box, because there isn’t a lot in my life right now that feels luxurious.
Unwrapping something that had obviously been carefully put together felt extra special. In my box was the following:
Caramels from the Lovely Candy Company: These soft, chewy caramels were pretty delicious, and I had to hide them from my girls once they found out they were gluten free (they both have Celiac’s). They are also non-GMO, certified kosher and contain no high fructose corn syrup or artificial ingredients.
Retail price of item in box – $1.49
Little Pim CD: Little Pim is the award-winning language learning program designed for children ages 0-6. Their unique Entertainment Immersion Method makes it fun and easy to learn. While my 5 month old was a little young for it, he did enjoy listening, and I picked up a word or two!
The CD retails for $16.99 online.
Nurturmeal: We haven’t introduced solids to my 5 month old yet, and my 2 year old is a bit big to be eating this, but I love that there is a healthy, on-the-go alternative to making your own baby food. NurturMe is the first and only family of certified-organic, dried fruit and veggie meals and snacks created to nourish healthy growth and overall wellness in little ones. To prepare, all you need to do is simply mix with water, breast milk or formula. It’s kosher, non-GMO, and gluten free.
Retail price of item in box – $1.39
eInvite – Holiday Cards: eInvite.com is a leading online retailer of invitations, announcements, gifts and personalized stationery. They offer a wide selection of quality products, all customizable through their patented online personalization tool. Their line of Baby products includes shower invitations, birth announcements, nursery decor and much more! Made in the USA.
Product Pricing: $8.80 (5 cards at minimum 1.76 each). Personalized holiday cards start as low as $.72 each.
Soothie Suckers – Immune and Nasal Support: Soothie Suckers provides family herbal supplements that are finally fun and tasty. Why shouldn’t the GOOD stuff taste good? The proprietary formulations use certified organic/wild-crafted herbal extracts with a pre-portioned dose in each ice pop. No artificial flavours, no high fructose corn syrup or no alcohol. While I find them a bit expensive, my kids actually loved the way they taste. And it’s not easy to find vitamins that don’t contain high fructose corn syrup and artificial flavours, so they’re definitely worth it.
Product Pricing: $9.99 for 8 pops
Wee Can Too – Veggie Crayons: I was most excited to try out these crayons, since Maman Loup herself had some for her cub. Sure enough, the first thing my 2 year old did was put it in his mouth. Luckily, these are made from veggie-based ingredients, including food grade soy wax. The package contained full size versions of each colour, and while I found the crayons’ colours a bit dull, the fact that they’re safe for little ones more than compensates for their performance.
Product Pricing: $12.00
Circle of Friends’ Organics Shampoo and Shower Gel: Hands down my favourite product in the box. We got the Eczema and Sensitive Skin Shampoo and Body Wash, and I love how well it works on both my 5 month old and my 2 year old’s sensitive skin. After just a couple of baths, their skin was softer, and their dry red eczema patches had faded.
Product Pricing: Circle of Friends’ Organics Shampoo and Shower Gel (8oz): $14.40
All in all, I was pretty happy with my Ecocentric Mom experience. This is a subscription box I would be happy to get as a gift, and one I would be glad to gift others.
