I am very particular about my blankets. Even in the extreme heat of summer, I can’t sleep without at least a light blanket covering me. In the winter, what I hate the most is when my lower back is exposed to the cold.

Cub is, apparently, equally particular about blankets. It’s quite important that I put his duvet on him just right every night. The way his bedroom is laid out, we have no choice but to place his bed right next to the window. Now that it’s getting cold, the draft is particularly chilly, so if he kicks off his covers, I worry about him being too cold.

When he was tiny,  in a far away time when he actually slept on his own in a crib, we loved our Halo Sleep Sack Swaddle. He slept so well with his arms swaddled in and his legs nice and snuggled in the sack. Then our sleep routine went a bit wonky, and we became co-sleepers, and then he could walk… and now he’s in bed on his own again and I have happily discovered that you CAN put a mobile child in a sleep sack!

Halo Big Kid Sleep Sack ReviewMhmm… that’s a sleep sack with leg holes, and it’s awesome! They come in sizes 2T-3T and 4T-5T. Cub has lots of room to grown in the smaller size:

Part of our (irregular, at best) bedtime routine involves getting into his wearable blanket. I honestly thought I would have to force him to wear it, but every night, he nods his head enthusiastically when I offer it to him.

In the evening, he runs a circuit between his bedroom and our living room until he’s short of breath. (Who knows why!) He can do his exercise with no issues while wearing his Sleep Sack.

In the morning, the first thing Cub has to do is climb onto the ottoman and start sending his trains and cars down the race track. Also, easily accomplished in his Sleep Sack:

The only design improvement I would suggest for the Halo Sleep Sack Big Kids would be footies! They could roll over to cover cold tootsies, then roll back up if the child prefers to sleep (like me) barefoot. Ideally, they’d have no-slip soles, too.

Since we’re such fans of our sleep sack, I’d love to see it available in other colours and prints!

Because the sleep sack is fleece, which is somewhat water repellent,  it’s also great extra protection against diaper leaks.

You can buy Halo Sleep Sack Big Kids on their website (offering free shipping on $50+ purchases) or at Well.ca.

Halo Sleep Sack Big Kids come in both microfleece (as we tested) and a light-weight knit.

I *really* want to try this sleep sack, actually. My 2yo has been waking up once or twice a night the past week because he kicks his blankets off and gets cold. It’s been exhausting! This would fix that problem!!!

I would love to try the toddler sleep slack. We used a different sleep sac when camping this summer and our little girl found it frustrating when trying to stand up. Hopefully there wouldn’t be any of those issues with this sleep sac 🙂

  4. I would love to try the toddler sleep slack. My 18 months is a big boy and he hates blankets.

I would love to give the Halo Sleep Sack Big Kids a try. I love your idea to add removable footies with grippers – like toddler slippers! 😉

  6. Muriel C. Boucher

L’idée est vraiment géniale!! Ils doivent être tellement confortables dans cette “doudou”!!

  7. i would like the HALO® SleepSack® Wearable BlanketLuxe Sherpa. A newborn in the winter is hard to keep warm

  8. Jenny B

I’ve used Halo sleep sacks for both of my kids. My daughter has been using the ones my son had but I just got her another cozy fleece one for the winter.

I used the HALO® SleepSack® Swaddle100% Cotton in Blue when my son was born. I loved it so much I went and bought three more.

  10. Mimi

Have been looking at these sleep sacks for a while now but have always been unsure about the leg holes and cold feet!
We use GroBags, the 3-6 Year old ones are SOO expensive!! Hard to justify even buying a spare one
Would love to give one of these a try

I would love to try the Early Walker SleepSack. My LO loves to stand in her crib when she wakes up and if her feet aren’t free she falls over and has bonked her head on occasion. I just don’t know how to solve the cold feet issue. She kicks off socks 🙁

I’d love a winter weight sleep sack. Our house is so cold! And I wish I would’ve had the Bassinest Swivel Sleeper for when DD was newborn. It looks so handy!

  13. Melissa K.

We used a sleep sack when my daughter was younger, now we’re in need of one for a boy!

  14. Melissa S

We really love the Halo Sleep Sacks. We have them in fleece for the winter, but would like to try a cotton one. Awesome review post…your description of your sons nightly exercises made me giggle:)

I would love to win this for my baby girl that is on the way

I had heard of the Halo early walkers sleep sack, but not the one for big kids. This might solve the problem of munchkin waking too early having kicked his blanket off. We used Halo sleep sacks when he was younger until he refused to wear them… but then it was summer, so he didn’t really need a blanket. These look nice and cuddly warm!

The swivel sleeper basinnette looks amazing!

We currently have two medium size sleeps sacks. We have the blue & white space ship fleece and the grey & white stripe elephant cotton.

I used the small size Halo sleep sack for my baby. Otherwise he’d kick the blankets off. We tried the swaddling wrap when he was first born, but he’d struggle and fuss until he got one arm free! I’d love to get the next size up. We’re currently using a different brand, but it like Halo much better.

  20. Jerrica Evans

I would love the Swivel Sleeper Bassinest, it would be so much easier to use then a regular bassinet.

  21. Tricia Hope

I would love the Toddler Sleep Sack.My daughter loved the Halo Newborn Sleep Sacks. So glad they come in a toddler size!

  22. Nicky J

I really like the sweater knit sleep sacks! Didn’t know they made those. Wish they had more colour choices for the winter weight sacks though other than pink or blue.

  23. korinsama

I would loovveeee to try a early walker sleepsack witht he robot pattern!
with the cold days coming, LO always ends up sleeping in an odd position with all his covers at the end of the bed. And “regular” sleepsack won’t do the trick since he’s sleeping in a twin bed!

  24. lauren simms

This is exactly what my 20month old needs!

  25. I would choose the he HALO® SleepSack® Big Kids for my grandsons. They are cute and look so comfy.

  26. I love this! I have already put in a Christmas gift request lol

  27. Christina H

I would love the Bassinest Swivel Sleeper! This would be perfect since we’re expecting!

  28. Jennifer P.

We currently use a fleece HALO SleepSack Early Walker – it is blue with an elephant on it, must be last season’s style since I don’t see it on their website any more. Anyway, we would love to upgrade to a fleece HALO SleepSack Big Kids as our daughter is growing quickly and this would be a nice big size for her to move into once she outgrows the 18-24 months sizing. And we’d go for the pink elephant one this time – something a little girlier for her after wearing the blue for a while (I love my girls in blue though, so I tend to pick it a lot!). 🙂

  29. Franny

I would love to try the Halo Sleep Sack, Swaddle, and the Halo Swivel Bassinest. They are all on my baby registry.

  30. Claudia

I’d love to try the lightweight knit big kids sleep sack. I would love it even more if they made an adult version 😛

  31. Robin

I love my sleep sacks but eventually my daughter will realize she wants to use her feet at night.

  32. janell wagner

Argh can’t stand the gleam entry form, it never performs correctly on mobile devices! It records entries, says signed in, but then goes back to not signed In no entries etc!

  33. Megan Grant

I would love to try this! We have been using Halo Sleepsacs since the start and love them!

  34. Shannon A

I need one of these 🙂

  35. Christina Ohland

I would love to try this. My son’s legs get tangled in his blankets and it wakes him up. But I’m worried the fleece won’t be breathable enough for him, he sweats easily.

    1. Lindsay

In that case you might choose the lighter version if you win!

  36. Joanna S

We used the HALO® SleepSack® Swaddle when our son NT was newborn. I loved the ease of the velcro to swaddle and the inverted zipper made night time diaper changes a breeze! Highly recommend.

  37. Dawn Wilson

I have used sleep sack with my 3 younger kids and loved them. I would love to try the Early Walker sleep sack for my due at Christmas grandson!

  38. Mylène Bélanger

Ma fille porte celui que j’ai gagné toutes les nuits depuis et moi je suis bien contente car elle est bien au chaud car elle déteste les couvertures, merci!
