Wednesday is many things. Some might call it Hump Day, I call it Waste Less Wednesday!

One of the main reasons I’ve been able to significantly cut down on the amount of trash we put out on the curb is by switching from heavy, not-so-environmentally-friendly, strip-mined clay litter to a lighter-weight, better-for-the-Earth corn-based alternative.
I’ve tried a couple of brands over the years, and I’ve finally settled on one I like best. Fittingly, it’s called World’s Best Cat Litter.
I’d actually heard this brand mentioned quite a few times when I would start searching for a better alternative to clay litter. I couldn’t find it at my local pet store, however, so I never tried it. Now that they carry it at Well.ca, I can get it straight to my door, so I gave it a shot.
All the other corn-based litters I’ve tried don’t clump very well. If you have a cat (we have two), you know that a litter that doesn’t clump well is pretty pointless. If you can’t remove the urine from the litter because clumps just crumble to pieces when you scoop, then you wind up having to change the litter more often. This means more money spent on litter and more waste.
One of the reasons I’d gone back to clay litter was the issue of not-so-clumpiness. In our pre-Cub days, we were fostering a lot of cats. At one point, there were 8 cats living with us… so a litter that didn’t clump well was not an option.
I have been using the World’s Best Cat Litter Multiple Cats formula for 2 months now, and I’m a convert. It clumps just as well as our clay litter, and it doesn’t track anywhere near as much as the other brands I’ve tried. (If you want an eco-friendly, ZERO track litter, try Yesterday’s News. The only trouble is that it doesn’t clump… but the fact that it doesn’t clump is also why it doesn’t track.)
Obviously, in the best of scenarios, I would live on a vast farm where my cats could use the world as their litter box… but since that’s not the case, and I’m not willing to toilet-train my cats (and yes, I’ve considered it)… World’s Best Cat Litter is where it’s at.
