[I received this product free for review.]
I always like to give new products a thorough test drive before I feel ready to write my review for all of my fabulous readers. The moment I knew I was ready to write about Tony’s Lip Care (T.L.C.) was when I stepped out my front door into the remnants of the polar vortex and my first thought was, “Crap. I left my lip balm inside.”
If you’ve lived anywhere in the vicinity of a polar vortex and you have small children, you know that leaving the house is an expedition all on its own. I don’t go back inside for coffee or even my wallet… but I went back for Tony.
I am extremely picky about what products I put on my skin: I’m pickier about my beauty products than I am about the food I eat (says the girl who succumbs to a McDonald’s craving once a month). If I don’t know what it is, if I can’t pronounce it or if it’s a high-risk ingredient according to the EWG, it’s not touching my skin. A lot of lip balms contain petrolatum (aka Vaseline), and I avoid it like the plague.
Hence, why I am in love with Tony’s Lip Balm:
I love an ingredient label I actually understand!
T.L.C. feels smooth and luxurious on my lips and it’s doesn’t feel too sticky. I feel like my pout is protected from the polar vortex.
T.L.C. also comes in a tinted version. I don’t wear lipstick: I hate lipstick. It either wipes right off or it only comes off with turpentine. In fact, I wear zero make up. But you know what, I got myself all dolled up to go to Costco on Friday night with my husband (hot date!) and I really think the light tint in Tony’s Tinted Lip Balm is perfect.
And the tint is made from Alkanet Root Powder… no Red Dye No. 3 here!
Tony’s Lip Care also comes in Strawberry and Peppermint flavours. I have to confess: I haven’t opened my flavoured tubes. I’m saving them for when I run out of the “original”!
Tony Pec is a college student who has started his own natural and organic lip balm company in New Jersey. His lip balm is paraben, petroleum, and preservative free. You can check out his Facebook page or find him on Etsy. He is very passionate about his product, telling me that “unlike other lip balms, it does not dry out your lips, it soothes, moistens and repairs dry, chapped lips.”
