So as previously mentioned, my homemade body wash and liquid hand soap are the two DIY recipes that most closely resemble store-bought equivalents. Today I will tell you about the body wash Maman Butt and I concocted. Because shea butter can be expensive, I’m not confident that this recipes is competitive with store-bought brands when it comes to price (depending on what you use). That being said, knowing exactly what I am slathering on your body is pretty priceless.
Compared to the liquid hand soap, the ingredients required are a tiny but more complicated, specifically, the Guar Gum. Guar gum is a natural thickener, can makes the body wash thick, just like what we’re used to from the big brands. We found ours at Bulk Barn, but they do carry it at Well!
We followed this recipe from Whole New Mom:
- Aloe vera gel
- Guar gum
- Shea butter
- Dr Bronner’s Liquid castile soap
- Essential oils (we used a combo of citrus oils)
